Introducing Hero Dogs Sgt. Merlin German, USMC!
Hero Dogs Merlin is 11 weeks old and is a cross between a golden retriever and a Labrador retriever. He comes to Hero Dogs from ICAN through our partnership with Assistance Dogs International‘s North American Breeding Cooperative. Merlin is sponsored by Caladwich Consulting, a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business!
Merlin’s namesake, nicknamed “Miracle Man,” was a Marines sergeant stationed in Iraq who survived a roadside bomb blast in 2005. He became a symbol of recovery during the 17 months he spent hospitalized following the blast. He eventually regained the ability to walk and set up a charity for child burn victims. Tragically, German passed away in 2008 following a skin graft surgery.
