Two of the dogs I raised for Hero Dogs were released from the service dog training program.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀: Hero Dogs Scotty (yellow Labrador retriever who will be 8 years old in July) for health reasons, and Hero Dogs Sammie (yellow Labrador retriever who is 6 years old) for reasons of temperament. They both came to live with me and have found their calling as excellent therapy dogs. Scotty has completed 450 therapy visits and Sammie has done 70+.
𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲: Hero Dogs Sammie’s greatest impact has been with little children. At the school where she volunteers, she is known as Sammie the Reading Dog who turns children into eager readers while teaching the them to love and respect dogs. Hero Dogs Scotty has touched the lives of hundreds of people in nursing homes and hospitals. He is very intuitive and always knows who needs a little extra attention or help.
𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀: The best thing about volunteering at Hero Dogs, in addition to the dogs, is having made fantastic like-minded friends, and going to graduations where the fruits of everyone’s dedication and hard work become evident.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜’𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀: Hero Dogs is a very professional and responsible organization with an admirable mission and high standards for the care of both its clients and the dogs that have been entrusted to them. As a naturalized US citizen, I always seeks ways of giving back to this extraordinary country that has adopted me. Volunteering with Hero Dogs gives me an opportunity to do that.
