We are proud to officially introduce you to our three newest puppies, born to Hero Dogs Elsie!
Hero Dogs LtCmd Harry Lewis Gerwin, USN, is sponsored by Pat Schaap and is named after a veteran who actively served from October 1941 to October 1945 and in the reserves until 1951. Gerwin served on the USS Nevada BB-36 as a Radar Specialist during WWII and continued in government service as an engineer at NASA before retiring.
Hero Dogs Colonel Tara Lunardi, USAF, is named by the winner of our Giving Tuesday 2023 puppy naming drawing. Therapy dog handler Tim Olive chose to name the puppy after a friend and fellow U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations Special Agent and USAF veteran. Colonel Lunardi was the first female OSI Region Wing Commander at Langley AFB and this past year assumed the position of Vice Commander at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. Her memory will live on in the service of Hero Dogs Tara.
