Hero Dogs Volunteers Needed
Hero Dogs relies on volunteers to fill a variety of roles in the organization. A volunteer application must be submitted before you can volunteer and are to be submitted by and for adults only.
We do not have any volunteer opportunities available for people under the age of 18. However we have many parents who volunteer for us and their children join them in doing so. Under your direct adult supervision, children are welcome to join you at appropriate events and in the kennel. If you are under 18 years old and would like to volunteer you can do so only under the direct supervision of a parent or responsible adult.
If you would like to donate your time and skills (including puppy raising or puppy sitting), the first step is to fill out our volunteer application. After you submit your volunteer application you will receive an email with a link to our Puppy Raiser/Puppy Sitter pdf application. In order to be considered, please return this form ASAP.
If you are interested in occasional and flexible volunteer opportunities, please fill out a volunteer application. Event volunteers are always needed and very much appreciated! Event volunteers help promote Hero Dogs through attendance at public outreach events by answering questions, distributing publicity materials, engaging supporters, recruiting volunteers. We send email announcements about short-term or one-time volunteer opportunities to the volunteer list as they arise.
We no longer offer a volunteer training program however if you are interested in working with the dogs, please fill out a volunteer application and read about kennel helpers. At this time, only our puppy raisers, trainers, and a handful of puppy sitters and Board of Directors members are actually approved to handle the dogs at public events. The first step to being considered as an approved dog handler is attending our Puppy Program Orientation (held quarterly).
If you would like to look at some of the ongoing volunteer positions that are open, please- Login to the account you just created by filling out the volunteer application (link will open a new window).
