Hi everybody! Can you believe the last time you heard from me I was still living with my puppy raiser? Now I’m one of the senior dogs in the kennels along with Molly. I get to show these youngsters the ropes in advanced training and loving every minute of it!
When I’m not hanging out at the kennels, I’m being kept busy at events. I got to attend the Bruce Springsteen Concert with the rest of my Hero Dog fur-buddies to help raise more money for Hero Dogs. Plus all the humans got to enjoy the music from Mr. Springsteen at the same time. I think the humans became a little too distracted at the event and need to work on some “look and watch” for themselves!
Moira was kind enough to select Molly and I to represent Hero Dogs at the Ocean City Golf Tournament. Of course Molly and I rocked the Golf Tournament like the old pros we are! For being such good service dogs, we got a special trip to the play in the ocean. You all know how much I love the beach from my family trips with my puppy raisers. We also got to paint the town red (not really sure what that means) and I had I blast!
When I’m not out being the beautiful face of Hero Dogs, Becca is making sure I’m keeping up on my advanced training. I’ve been working really hard on keeping my act together when around dogs in public. Apparently barking to say hello is still frowned upon as a service dog! No time to wallow though because I’ve been learning position changes just on verbal cue (heel, side, turn). This skill will be invaluable to the veteran I am paired with one day.
Becca has shown great improvement at pulling and will now pull open any door no matter how heavy it is. I’m still leery about pulling things on wheels, but I’m improving on it daily. Sometimes even us older kennel dogs don’t like certain things about being groomed. My “Achilles Heel” is having my ears cleaned. I prefer to hide my head and cuddle in hopes my charm will make the kennel duty forget my ears need to be cleaned. It never works.
