I came to Hero Dogs in September and it has been an exciting time ever since I arrived! I stayed with Becca for a couple of weeks and then I went to a puppy sitter’s house for almost three weeks. The puppy sitter, Robin, has raised other Hero Dogs so she knew just what I was supposed to learn as a new recruit.
The first thing I did was to meet Buddy her dog. We started right away going on walks together. I was on my long line and would run after Buddy to keep up with him! I got used to the house and which door we would go out to “get busy.” Robin said that for a little puppy I was doing great in that area.
After a few days we packed up my Hero Dogs vest and supplies and took a trip to the lake. I was really great riding such a long way in the car. While I was there I went swimming in the lake and for a boat ride! I also rode in a golf cart to practice for the Hero Dogs golf tournament. We went to a restaurant for dinner with some friends. I slept the whole time on my “place” and everyone was very impressed with how mellow I am.
One day we went to an office to see Robin’s son, Alex, where I got to meet all of his co-workers. We all went out to lunch together and sat outside since the weather was so nice. Finally, I got to go to the dentist office. I rode in an elevator to get there and once inside I met all the staff and a few of the patients.
I’ve learned so many new skills in just a short period of time. I can’t wait to meet my puppy raiser family. They have children and I know I’m going to be loved and happy there!
