Since I had such a busy last few months I took some time in July to write some songs and enjoy the summer.
I started the month at Brookeville Animal Hospital. I love seeing everyone there! Turns out itchy-me got a yeasty ear and an infected “angry” lip. How, you ask? I have no idea, but it meant more pills and ear cream (I LOVE pills because they mean peanut butter). After a couple of weeks I was all cleared up. The life of an itchy dog means I get to know my veterinarians very well!
One very beautiful Sunday I made my monthly visit to the friendly Veterans at the Armed Forces Retirement Home! I wore my patriotic bandana because it was close to the fourth of July! My PAL therapy dog friend Biscuit wore a bandana that looked like mine and we made quite the paw-triotic pair! Everyone told me how handsome I looked in red, white, and blue!
Shark week moved up a whole month early this year! I love shark week because I got a new shark toy! We would sit at night and watch the sharks jump out of the water with their giant teeth! I told Christen that I can do that too and I tried to show her my best shark impression!
My humans celebrated 12 whole years together this month! Wow! That’s almost a lifetime in dog years! To celebrate we took a nice long walk around the lake! I love celebrating especially if it means more time together with my favorite people!
We had our quarterly therapy dog meeting this month where we talked about a lot of new exciting opportunities to visit new locations. I even got my nails trimmed by Jennifer while Becca fed me ROAST BEEF! Christen never gives me roast beef! I love being a therapy dog!
Later that week I also went to the Hero Dogs quarterly meeting where we get updated on all the service dogs to be! We started the meeting outside with some fun training drills walking nicely on our leashes. Then when we got inside we dogs rested while the humans talked… boy do humans talk a lot!
I worked a lot on my manners this month. I have been working on walking nicely on my collar without my harness and ignoring some of the loud dogs on our walks. One day I will behave like an angel and the next day I decide to not listen at all. Christen gets frustrated sometimes because she knows I can do very well, but I’m still a young dog and I get distracted because the world is so awesome! My long walks have been tough in this summer heat! Even when playing outside I give up after a few minutes and sit in the shade.
Brendan had some shows to play with his band this month. Life of a rock star I guess… but he forgot to take me too! I would sit patiently in a “Stay” while he packed the car, but I wanted to follow him so badly! He went into the studio this month to record more songs we wrote together! I can’t wait for you to hear them! We are almost done our first dog song album! New music and videos to come!
At the end of the month my cousin Owen came over to spend the night and we had a blast! We ran together, we played together, we chewed Nylabones together, and we even took a nap back to back! Christen said that he is moving far away to a place called Nashville, Tennessee. I sure will miss him, but I always like to say see you later, not goodbye! The humans say Nashville is a place where humans sing a lot and there is lots of good food so I think I might go visit Owen sometime to see for myself! Maybe they have never heard of a song writing dog before?!
