I know it’s been a LONG time since I’ve updated my blog, but I’ve had one heck of a time in college (Hero Dogs)! The past couple of years I have learned new skills, studied into the wee hours of the night, and of course partied hard every chance I got! My senior year has made me one busy golden cause I finally got myself a Veteran! Now, I don’t hold the fact that she was a Marine Gunnery Sergeant against her… GO ARMY!!! We started our journey together in June 2015 and it has been quite a (sometimes rocky) road thus far.
My Veteran stayed at Hero Dogs where I showed her everything she needs to know… all right, maybe I exaggerated just a tiny bit. Jennifer and Becca were the real mentors to my Veteran and taught her everything she needed to know to take care of me, all the commands, and how to incorporate me into her life. A lot of stuff to remember, right? That’s exactly what my Veteran thought, too; however, my sultry brown eyes reassured her everything would be all right (that and many chats with Jennifer and HD Grete’s puppy raiser).
Like with any young pup, I had to test the waters to see what I could get away with… boy did I try a ton of things! Let’s just say this made my Veteran send tons of late night text messages to Jennifer (so sorry… sultry brown eyes at work again), who I guess told her everything was going to be all right. My Veteran also gave me the best thing ever, another brother! He loves to run, throw balls, and sometimes cause a little mischief with me… really, what could be better?
My Veteran has tons of weekly appointments at Walter Reed and Ft. Belvoir. I have had to remember to be patient during these appointments, even though there always seems to be tons of stuff going on around me. I can tell my Veteran is much calmer now during her appointments since I came around. Most importantly, I have helped my Veteran venture back out into the world and not feel as afraid or anxious.
This month we are slaying ourselves practicing for our tests. We are hoping to study, study, study before we take the tests next month. Wish us luck!
