Hero Dogs Jeremiah is a two-year old male golden retriever. Jeremiah has been in our program since 8 weeks of age, and has been in advanced training for several months. However, Jeremiah just does not have the confidence necessary to become a service dog. He is fearful of thunder and other loud noises (such as fireworks), and sometimes can be overwhelmed by too much activity. Jeremiah is a very gentle and sensitive dog, and we feel that he would excel in a quiet setting as a facility dog with a mental health care provider. Jeremiah very much enjoys physical contact and petting, but he can also be a playful clown who will bring smiles to clients’ faces.
Jeremiah has excellent house manners, obedience, and skills. However, he simply prefers cuddling to working. He is good with children of all ages. Jeremiah is generally good around other dogs, but would honestly prefer to be an only dog. He does not share toys and balls well with other dogs. He likes cats. Jeremiah has average energy for a 2-year old retriever, and is generally content with a solid one-hour walk daily and a few play sessions. He LOVES to play ball more than life itself, so exercising him in this way is easy. Jeremiah’s worst habits are tearing up tennis balls and stuffed toys, so balls must be removed after playtime and stuffed toys are off-limits. In the house or office, Jeremiah is extremely calm, quiet, and laid back.
