Welcome to fall!
In the beginning of the month, Gary and Meaghan let me stay with Leslie & Butch for almost a whole week. They took me to lots of places where people had white hair and moved around on really neat chairs with wheels. I don’t know why we don’t have any of those in my house; they were fun. I also got to ride an elevator. Leslie said I did a really nice job *going through* the doors and *settling* while she paid for things at the store. They also took me swimming for the first time. I think I liked it!
During September, I went to lots of places where I could see other Hero Dogs and meet lots of people. I like the ones where I get to be outside because its so much more interesting and when I just have to listen to people talk I get kind of bored and need to remind everyone that I’m here and ready to work!
Let’s see, I:
* Visited the Finksburg Library with Hero Dogs Honor and Hero Dogs Ruby to hear Moira give a presentation. I did a little demo too and found a heavy suitcase that was just begging to be pulled across the room,
* Went to the Olney Fire Department Open House with Hero Dogs Zeke and Hero Dogs Libby. I got to see Maria there and it seems like only yesterday that we flew here together from Spain,
* Went to the NIH with Hero Dogs Stella (she’s so big and fluffy) and Hero Dogs Hunter (he’s so small and fluffy!). It was really hot but I did great walking around the tent and seeing so many people.
I can tell I’m growing up because I started Puppy 2. It’s a lot of work but I really, really enjoy it.
When I’m not working, I get to have play dates now with Hero Dogs Nick and Hero Dogs Zeke.
They are both so much fun. Gary finds me fun and different places to walk like the Rachel Carson Nature trail. There are apricots there but Gary won’t let me eat them (he keeps saying *Give*) because he says they are bad for dogs. I’ve also been to lots more stores and even went grocery shopping a few times. I do a really good job checking in and I’m slowly learning not to jump up when people want to say hi.
I’m looking forward to cooler weather in October, more play dates, lots of people watching and getting bigger and stronger!
