This month we went to our last Regatta at the St. Andrews School in Delaware. It’s a beautiful place along the river to watch the races. I practiced not paying attention to other dogs, which is hard but I am getting better at it. I also practiced greeting strangers which I think I am great at. I like to meet new people.
I also did a really fun thing in May, I went to the Andrews Airforce Base Air Show. It was great fun. I met so many nice people who came to the Hero Dogs tent, they really liked meeting me too. After my shift was over I went outside with my puppy raiser and her son and we watched jets fly really close to the ground. They make an amazing amount of noise but that didn’t bother me a bit. ( I was really more interested in the funnel cake).
We had to walk a long way to get back to our car and it was hot but my puppy raiser found some shade for me to rest in half way there and gave me some water too. That helped. I met several service men and women while I was there and they loved the idea of Hero Dogs, they are going to tell their friends about us.
After the Air Show we went to the US Naval Academy and picked up my puppy raiser’s daughter and five of her friends. They all had liberty and were coming home for the night. I always love it when they come home because they play with me and throw balls for me too. They were also excited to see my new tricks. I can shake “hands” to say hello, I can roll over all the way and I can do the army crawl on my belly. Though they think it should be called the Navy crawl because you know, “GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY” and all of that but they were pretty impressed just the same.
I continue to go on my country and city walks and to run errands, lots of errands, with my puppy raiser. I will be moving up to the level 3 puppy class at the end of May so I will really have to be sure to do my homework every day.
Another fun thing I did this month was go to a Motor Cycle Ralley. My puppy raiser couldn’t take me so my friend Jeannie took me. I had a lot of fun meeting new dogs and new people but it was pretty hot so I spent most of my time in the baby pool they had for us, that was great fun. When I got home from the Ralley there were ten Midshipmen at my house for the night. That’s the most there have ever been, I always have fun when they are here because they love me.
Well that’s about it for me this month, I need to go now, it’s time to pick the kids up from school.
