The month of June was a bit different for me than usual because I had kennel cough. I learned something new, even if you have the kennel cough vaccine you can still get kennel cough. Maggie says it is like the flu vaccine for humans, most likely you won’t get the flu but you still can. I only felt bad for about four or five days but I had to stay home for three weeks because the other dogs in my house got the virus too and it’s very contagious so I couldn’t go anywhere while there was still kennel cough in the house. I don’t know how Maggie managed all those errands without me!
Once I felt better I couldn’t leave our property but we live on a big farm so I could still go on my country walks which I love. We walk for four miles and about half way through the walk there is this great big mud puddle. Maggie lets me sit in it which I love to do. It’s all soft and squishy and makes me feel sooo cool. When I get out of the puddle the bottom of me is covered in mud, fortunately there is a deep stream on the way home and Maggie lets me wade in the deep pools and get all the mud off of me. Maggie still rubs me down with a towel when we get home so that I am clean and dry when I go into the house.
While I was stuck at home the midshipmen came to visit me. They must have heard I was sick and wanted to check on me. I felt fine while they were here so I could still play ball and race around with them. They love me.
By the end of June all of the dogs in the house were healthy again so I was able to go on our trip up to Philadelphia. We went out to dinner at an outside restaurant with a beautiful view of the city and I was a good boy and slept under the table the whole time. Then we went to an outdoor concert of the Philadelphia Orchestra. They played the 1812 overture and when the canons boomed I was surprised and woke up and looked around but I was very good and didn’t make a fuss even though it was very loud. After the concert there were fireworks which were beautiful even though they were very noisy, but the noise didn’t bother me, I just lay at Maggie’s feet and waited for them to be over.
Well that’s all for now, have a happy July fourth.
