Well, let me tell you, it has been a very busy first month for me here at Hero Dogs. I arrived on August 10th and got to make friends with lots of new people and other dogs! I made a best friend really quickly. Her name is Amber and she is a new Hero Dog puppy just like me!
I went to my first vet visit on August 12th and passed with flying colors. I was officially introduced on the Hero Dogs website and now I am an official Hero Dog!
August 15th was a really big day for me as I got to meet my new family, Morgan and Jean, and I also went to my first puppy training class! I got to meet lots of new little puppies and loved playing with them. I am trying my best to learn my new commands as well. I get lots of treats! I did get a little sleepy towards the end of my class so took a quick 40 winks. I’m sure I heard somebody saying something about “settling” out of the corner of one of my ears so I was just ahead of the pack! After my class I went to my new home.
I’ve been going on lots of trips to different places. Wow! There is a big world out there! So many new things to investigate. The first strange animals I met were goats. They were really cool but I couldn’t play with them because they were on the other side of a fence. I met more neat animals at the Maryland State Fair. Some were pretty boring, like cows. I met all kinds of people there too. They were really nice to me.
“Bessie, did you hear the one about the goat and the chicken?”
“Darn, she’s heard that one.”
I also spent a day at the National Marine Museum for their Dogs Day of Summer event. There were a lot of people there visiting with me. Everyone said I was very adorable. I wonder what that means? There were some other Hero Dogs there that did some demos of what they’ve learned. Boy, I can’t wait until I can do those things too.
I am looking forward to what new things next month will bring!!
