Welcome to fall, one of my top four favorite seasons!
Just like some of my human friends, I’ve started to go to school! Not just to class with dogs, but also to human school with Heather. I must say, human school doesn’t seem nearly as much fun as my dog classes. When I go to dog class I get lots of snacks, but they don’t get any snacks in human school! I have been working on laying down quietly during class as well as in the library.
Remember when I told you last month that I would have some big news in September? I am officially a good citizen, because I passed my Canine Good Citizen test! I had to do a lot of different things, like sitting for petting, passing another dog without saying hello, and staying calm when a loud door slammed. I was so proud of myself that I wanted to wear my ribbon everywhere!
September is also the time for the end of summer activities and the beginning of fall ones. My favorite ice cream shop closed for the year, but we got to go right before it closed. I got to lay down and visit with some of my small human friends, and they enjoyed petting such a calm dog. Everyone was so impressed with how calm I was, but I wish they would have fed me some ice cream!
Fall where I live means apples, and they are everywhere! I get to practice “leave it” a lot on walks because there are tasty apples all over the ground. Also, I got to go to my first cider mill, a place where there is no shortage of delicious smells.
In addition to all these fun places I have gone in September, I have also been working on my training. I have been working on picking up all kinds of things gently, so I don’t break them. I’ve been picking up credit cards without bending them, but they are pretty hard to pick up from a slippery floor. One time I even picked up an egg without breaking it! Heather also asks me to pick up yummy things, like crunchy dog treats, but if I give them back without breaking them then I get an even yummier treat, like chicken!
I’m off to figure out my Halloween costume. See you in October!
