Gracie’s Journal – May 2015 – Hero Dogs

June 17, 2015 By blog-editor

Hero Dogs "Gracie"Hi! I thought I would give everyone a brief update as to how I have been doing lately! I have been very busy – I like to be busy and to have things to do! If I could work all the time I would be very happy. Hopefully one day soon I will have my very own person that needs lots of help!

I have been continuing to perfect my skills. I like to do things perfectly and with lots of enthusiasm… sometimes I am told that I put too much enthusiasm into my work! I have been working on a few new skills – one is now I have to hold a door open, instead of just opening it. This means I need to hold the rope even if it’s a heavy door!

I have also been working on alerting to a timer. Basically this means when I hear a timer I run to the timer and I get a snack! It’s a pretty good deal. I am told this new skill will help someone know when to take their medicine.

Another thing I’ve been working on is doing my basic commands when someone is sitting on the ground. I have to sit, down, stand, and turn while Becca sits on the floor with me. I think I’m pretty good at all of them, but Becca seems to think I could use more work on “stand” – apparently “stand” does not involve poking Becca in the face with my snout.

Well, I have to go keep these new college kids in line, so I must be going.
