This August was full of new and exciting things. This month I went to a family reunion, Aikido, Hero Dogs Golf Tournament, Ocean City, the hair salon, my first communion, meetings, the metro and hung out with friends!
I went with my family to go and watch my puppy raiser practice Aikido. I sat on the floor and watched people use big wooden swords and make loud scary noises, but I didn’t really care.
I went to the zoo with HD Honor for the first time! We had a great time and all of the animals were really interested in us. There were big gorillas that would bang on the windows and try to scare us away. The giraffes, bears, and birds also were really interested in us. There was a photographer that followed us around because the animals would look straight at us!
This summer, I played with my friend, Gru. Gru is a chocolate labrador that also loves to run and play in water!
My puppy raisers went to a family reunion and I came. Some of the family has never met me before! I made sure to be very gentle with the little cousins and to sit or lie down when they pet me. I would play with my ball when I got bored.
I went to the Annual Hero Dogs Golf tournament. My puppy raiser won this huge dog basket full of toys, treats, and cool puzzle toys. The best part was seeing all of my furry HeroDogs friends. I’ve never seen so many of my friends in one space! I liked to be funny and crawl on the floor and get all of the dogs in the kennel excited. It was wonderful to meet the Bae Systems representative and have pictures taken in front of Bae Systems sign.
I was able to go to Ocean City! I would walk up and down Coastal Highway every mornings. Since it was really hot, I wore my booties on my walks and outings. Some mornings and evenings, I would go and chase my toy on the beach. My puppy raiser would hide my “find-it” toy in the sand, and I would look for it. I went to the board walk a couple times and it was really fun! At first, I would smell the ocean and I would think that I was going to the beach, but I realized that we were only going on the boardwalk. I saw many people in big costumes, playing music, painting, and big kites.
This month, I can carry my own little grocery basket and put little things in it. I also learned how to pick up coins and dollars! I can pick up coins on a carpet, but it is a bit harder to pick them up on hard wood floors and tile.
Last Sunday, I went to the Cathedral of Mary our Queen, and I walked nicely down a long aisle to communion. I had to walk by lots of children, a variety of people, and people saying “aw!” or “puppy!” I did a good job and maintained my focus on my human. Oh, and its very fun to kneel because I like to distract my people by licking their ankles! I was very good, and I stayed under the pew for most of the mass. After mass I played ball with my trainer.
‘Till next time,
