Hi, guys! I can’t believe how fast October went. I’ve been so busy exploring and learning stuff this month that I have loads to share with you.
First of all, going to school with Molly every day continues to be great fun. I sleep a lot while I’m there (sometimes with my tongue out… how embarrassing!), but not because it’s boring… I’m just so wiped out from all the growing I’ve been doing. You should see how my service dog vest, which used to be way too big, is barely fitting these days. When I’m not napping, my 3rd grade junior trainers have been working with me to refine my manners and practice the skills that I’ve been working on in Puppy Kindergarden. I’m really good at sit, down, wait, touch, and take it. I love picking up things that the kids drop, although I’m working on giving objects like pieces of paper back with less drool and fewer holes. Paper is so much more delicate than pencils and crayons!
Early in the month I got to go to the Catoctin Color Fest in Thurmont, MD, where I saw all sorts of neat stuff. There were arts and crafts, food vendors, pumpkins, costumes, and sooooo many people to meet! I was more than happy to wag my tail, give them kisses, nibble some fingers (Hey, it was the only way I could get a taste of that great smelling fair food!), and tell everyone about how special it is to be a Hero Dog. With all of the excitement and walking, I got really tired and decided to nap in a shopping basket while Molly and her sister ate lunch. People got a real kick out of that!
I had my very first sleep over at a puppy sitter’s this month. I got to spend 2 nights with Jeff and his wife, and we had a great time! He took me on lots of walks around his neighborhood, which is full of people and spots to visit. He was proud of me for being such a nice puppy when I got to go to places like the car dealership and the eye doctor, and when I met his friends and their dogs. I reeeeeeeeally wanted to play with his dog, Maggie, but she wasn’t so sure about me. I think it was due to my size and level of energy, but I’m sure she’ll come around if I get to stay with them again!
One of my very favorite things that I did this month was go camping. I got to hike, play in the mud, sniff lots of interesting stuff, and chill out in a camper. I met new people and doggies, and saw my first deer. I also greeted many children who were dressed up for trick-or-treating at the campground. I was so brave – I didn’t get scared of anyone’s costume! I was completely worn out from the weekend and could hardly get up for school on Monday… but I can’t wait to go again!
On top of all of the fun things I just mentioned, I’ve also been helping my humans run errands. I’ve visited the grocery store, post office, Hobby Lobby, and so many more places. I’ve gone to the Columbia Mall and Arundel Mills, and I got to ride on an elevator. I’ve met up with my Hero Dogs pals Dolley and Glory for play dates, too, and we enjoy running and wrestling together. During all of these new experiences, I have been a very friendly, well-behaved girl.
Hope you liked hearing what I’ve been up to. I’m sure November will bring lots of exciting adventures, so stay tuned!
