Season’s greetings! Boy, I now understand why humans call this time of year the “holiday rush” – what an exciting month it’s been around here! Let me tell you all about it…
Early in December, I went on an a fantastic voyage to Pennsylvania in search of holiday fun. Molly’s sister and her kids (some of my favoritest playmates!) came along, too. We stopped at Hershey’s Chocolate World, and I eagerly went on the factory tour ride to learn about how they make treats. Once Molly informed me that Hershey’s treats were for humans only, I promptly fell asleep for the rest of the ride.
After we were done visiting Chocolate World, we drove to Christmas Village, an amazing place with a spectacular holiday light display. We got to walk through the winding paths and see lots of Christmas decorations – some moved, some blinked, some played music, and all of them were awesome! It was pretty crowded so I got to meet lots of people, including Santa and Rudolph! I was patient and let everyone pet me. We went into the gift shop, and I was very careful not to knock over any of the pretty items. I also didn’t complain when everyone but me got hot chocolate (again, a human-only treat… Sheesh). I was too worn out to worry about it much; I slept the entire 3 hour car ride home!
A few days later, I went on my second field trip with my 3rd grade Junior Trainers. We rode the bus to the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore. Unlike our last museum trip, we were allowed to touch everything here! I watched as the kids zipped around and learned through play, just like I do in my puppy training classes. After some exploration, we watched a 3D movie about butterflies. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any glasses that fit me, so everything on the screen was kind of blurry looking to me. I was so good that Molly promised we’d go to another movie soon!
I also got to go with my Hero Dogs buddies Dolley, Scotty, and Jack on a visit to the USO at Reagan National Airport. We had such a fun time meeting the soldiers and their families in the lounge! I was super good with the kids – it’s kinda my specialty. I also enjoyed walking around the airport and seeing all of the travelers. We went up and down between the levels on stairs, ramps, and the elevator, which was good practice for all of us.
In December, I also got to stay with the Stewarts. They were so nice to let me visit while my puppy raisers were out of town! I had fun playing with them, and visiting with their family at a few holiday parties.
And, to top it all off, I was such a good puppy that Santa brought me some presents! My favorite was a pink stuffed hippopotamus – I could play with it all day. I’m going to be sure to be a well behaved Hero Dog in 2013, too!
