Hero Dogs Radar O’Reilly

Hero Dogs RadarI am Radar O’Reilly. When I meet Alison’s friends they all laugh and ask if I am like my namesake on MASH. I don’t know MASH, but if it’s edible I am happy to try it.

I joined the Putnam/ Provoncha household on March 7th. I was just a little camper. I couldn’t sleep through the night, so Alison was waking up every few hours to take me out, which I didn’t always appreciate. Then she would tell me to “GET BUSY”. Hello lady- I was busy sleeping! But I peed for her since it seemed to make her happy.

I have some new friends, Otto and Saki. Otto is this big furry sort of monster. I think he is a dog but I have NEVER seen a dog his size before so I am not quite sure. We play together a lot.

Saki is what they call a GREYHOUND. She is pretty, but most of the time she just stares at me with her big brown eyes. Lately, she has played with me in the yard. I think she is playing she runs around and I chase her. I can’t catch her, which I think she likes. Sometimes I stalk her, but she doesn’t play that game well. She just hides.

Since I have been visiting with my new pack, I have been meeting a lot of new people. If I have on my fancy vest, I know I am supposed to behave. Most of the time I do. People are great- they give me food. First they ask that I sit, but I will do that for a treat.

Every Saturday Alison and I go for coffee at Caribou. The staff at Caribou LOVE me! They too make me sit and down but they smell so nice, I don’t mind. Then the ladies who coffee tell me I am cute and going to do great things with my life. I know! Just yesterday I rolled in the grass. It was great.

I often visit dog stores like Petco and Bark. I have met a lot of dogs who are looking for good homes. I explain to them that they will eventually have a home as good as mine. I think they appreciate my words of wisdom.

I go to school Thursday night, which is really cool. I have a girlfriend named Giselle. I love to play with her. I play with the other dogs, too, but mostly I like to talk to the people because PEOPLE HAVE FOOD! I have homework to do every week. A lot of sit, stay, down, mine. UGH! I can’t keep it all straight. The one I HATE is wait. Alison puts my bowl in my kennel then tells me to WAIT! What? Wait for my food. Is this lady crazy? I have learned if I placate her she will eventually let me eat. I find she is trainable.

Did I mention I love to eat. I get my food in these Kongs and I have to roll it around to get food out. I learned if I hold it upside down I can dump it out. I should have kept that little trick a secret. My new Kong is a little harder to empty. I also have a ball with a little hole in it. When I roll it around my crate food drops out. It is so much fun, but it is a little noisy so I only get to play with it during lunch.

I go to work in the afternoon with Alison. It is rather boring, but she talks to me during breaks and plays with me. Most of the time I just snooze.
