Washington D.C. Non-Profit Organization to Provide Service Dogs to Wounded U.S. Veterans
The mission of Hero Dogs is to provide independence and improved quality of life to our nation's veterans by training and placing service dogs ("Hero Dogs") with military veterans who become disabled as a result of illness or injury sustained while serving honorably in the United States Armed Forces. There is no charge to the veteran for either the dog or any associated training.
Hero Dogs, Inc. has chosen to exclusively serve veterans in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. The Washington, D.C. area is home to thousands of returning veterans with special needs.
With two major military hospitals as well as numerous military bases and veterans' organizations, our goal is to meet a critical and unmet need. We will train a dog to meet multiple disabilities for example, a soldier who suffered both hearing loss and an amputation due to a blast injury. Our our training model assumes a need for longer duration support and training. Our programs and services are specifically available to U.S. military veterans who became disabled as a direct result of their service to our country.
Please make a donation today to enable Hero Dogs, Inc. to better serve our Nation's wounded military veterans.
