Hero Dogs Derby Here! They tell me I’m named after Grace Derby Banker, the head of the U.S. Signal Corps’ women telephone operators back in something called World War One. She sounds like an amazing women and I hope I can live up to her memory.
December was such a great month and full of incredible changes. My Hero Dogs siblings and I said goodbye to mamma Hero Dogs Clara and went home to our puppy raisers. That was a big change! I’d gotten so used to seeing Dip, Sandy, Pearl, and Betty every day that it was strange being apart. Not to worry though, Gary and Meaghan were ready for me with lots of love and treats and toys! Even better, some of my siblings live pretty close so I got to have puppy play dates with them!
Whew! It was a month of new things — I guess that’s what it’s like being a puppy! I went to playgrounds and Target and Grocery Stores and Starbucks and CVS and Malls and trails and even horse barns! My siblings and I also got to keep training together which is super great because all of us want to become amazing dogs that can help give back to the people that have given so much for our country.
December is also when Christmas happens and that was particularly great this year because Hero Dogs Jaz came back to visit with Gary and Meaghan and she and I got to play together. She is from Spain like my mamma Clara and it was so nice to be with her and hear that Spanish accent again. Ella es un perro excelente and I want to be one too.
