I went to Arizona on an airplane. It was no big deal but Mom was a wreck. Okay, so I threw a wrench into her plans by not being willing to get on a shuttle bus. Good thing Mom did a practice shuttle bus exercise using the NIH shuttle bus so she knew this was not going to work. So, instead, we took taxi to the airport. Like a good Hero Dog I did great at the security check point and walked through metal detector 3 times. It seems that all of my hardware (collar and leash) kept setting off the detector. The people at Southwest airline were really nice. We were the first to get on the plane. It was sort of scary going down the gang way but we made it and I got a bulkhead window seat. A nice lady seat next to us and she said that she had to negotiate with daughter about who got to sit next to the “dog”. Taking off and landing was fine, but I did catch my paw under the seat and yelped.
When we got off the plane I was limping and did not want to walk. Good thing Dad met us in the Las Vegas airport for the flight to Tucson. He got us wheel chair and I sat in Mom’s lap and Dad wheeled us to the pet relief station. Nice try Dad, but I was not interested in peeing.
When we got to Tucson my paw was fine and Mom tried to get me to “get busy”, but no luck – who wants to pee on desert dirt, not me. The rental car was fun because Mom and I had to share a seat. Okay, I took the leg area and Mom got the actual seat. I finally pee’d when we got to the bed and breakfast place.
We went for a walk thru the Saguaro and cholla cactus… it was not fun – the cholla kept jumping out and biting me in the paw. Good thing Mom knows about cactus and how to remove those bad plants from my paws. The next day I had booties… hah bad cactus. We also did a hiking trip away from the cactus.
