Hero Dogs Dominic is a Skilled Home Companion to a Military Veteran.
During one of the last swimming days, I saw this unusual thing struggling in the water; I was told it’s something called a pool cleaner, and it was drowning underwater, so I realized that I had to jump in and save it! I grabbed one of the pool cleaner's arms and pulled it to safety, and then I got to play ball afterward! Even with the pool cover on the pool, it’s still fun to go on top because it’s like a big trampoline! Don't worry, it's safe and secure, plus I'm a really good swimmer.
My days haven’t just been filled with play time. I work hard too. I love to press the "easy" button - I know I did a good job when I hear the button say "that was easy!" I also retrieve all sorts of objects like keys and a cell phone.
I am working really hard with those automatic doors (the ones that slide open and closed). They can be kinda scary... but with yummy snacks, like small pieces of ham and feta cheese, I was finally able to go in and out of Wegmans where they have three automatic doors! The person with me always makes sure that I "go through" the door safely and securely, but I am still practicing being brave while going in and out of the store.
Oh, something that was so much fun was the Hero Dogs Halloween party! All of the dogs got dressed up. I was a tennis player, of course... I mean, tennis balls are my favorite. During the party we had some fun training exercises. I went through some tunnels - while it started out a little scary, I realized after the first time that it was AMAZING!! I loved it and couldn’t get enough of it. I could run right through the tunnel to the person waiting for me on the other side, even if the tunnel curved so that I couldn't see them and I could only hear them!
Also, I was a pro at bobbing for apples; I got the most apples of any dog. I am pretty sure there is a video of me floating around somewhere. I had so much fun, and I wanted to keep bobbing for apples even after the party was over and everything was getting cleaned up.
Well, I gotta go... I'll talk to you later! Stay tuned for my next adventures!
